How much does a home repair cost in Ghent?
In Ghent and the surrounding area you pay the same fixed price as everywhere in Belgium. No hourly rate, no surprises afterwards.
A technician finds the cause of the fault at your home. If you then decide not to go ahead with the repair, you only pay for the diagnosis.
If the technician can repair it, you pay €110. No time limit: even if it takes long or a second visit is needed.
Spare parts are not included. The technician tells you in advance if a part is needed and what it costs.

Washing machine and dishwasher repair in Ghent
Washing machines and dishwashers are the appliances we are called out for most often in Ghent. These are the questions we hear most, with what you can check yourself before you book.
Why does water stay in my washing machine?
If the machine won’t drain, something is usually stuck in the lint filter or the drain pump, or the drain hose is kinked. Coins, buttons and hairpins are the usual culprits. It can often be solved without new parts. If the pump no longer turns, it has to be replaced.
Why is my washing machine leaking?
Look where the water comes from. Under the door points to a torn door seal or a sock caught between the door and the seal. At the bottom right, the lint filter often hasn’t been screwed back tightly enough. If the detergent drawer overflows, you are using too much detergent. If the water comes from the back or from under the machine, a hose or the pump is leaking inside. Turn off the tap and have a technician look at it.
Why won’t my dishwasher drain?
Usually the filter at the bottom is full of food scraps, or the drain pump is blocked by a shard of glass or a fruit sticker. First take out the filter and rinse it under the tap. If the water stays, the pump needs to be checked.
Do you also repair integrated dishwashers?
Yes. An integrated appliance has to come out of the cabinet first, which takes a little longer in a narrow kitchen. The price doesn’t change. Just mention when booking that it is an integrated appliance.

Tumble dryer and fridge repair in Ghent
In many Ghent terraced houses and flats, the tumble dryer stands in a small bathroom or in the attic, with no vent to the outside. That makes the filters and the condenser all the more important.
Why won’t my tumble dryer dry any more?
On a heat pump dryer the condenser is almost always the cause. Lint clogs the fins, the air can’t get through and the laundry stays damp. Clean the lint filter after every cycle and the plinth filter every month. If the laundry stays damp, you need a technician.
Why has the drum of my tumble dryer stopped turning?
If you hear the motor but the drum stands still, the drive belt has usually snapped or come off the pulley. If you hear nothing, the door switch or the motor may be faulty. A new belt is a common and quick repair.
Why has my fridge stopped cooling?
When a fridge stops cooling, it is often the fan of the no-frost system, an iced-up evaporator or the thermostat. First check that the door seals still close properly and that the back isn’t pushed right up against the wall.
Can you top up the refrigerant gas in my fridge?
No. We don’t repair refrigeration faults: no leak in the cooling circuit, no faulty compressor, and so no regassing either. The leak is usually in the foam insulation of the back wall and can’t be reached, and the full job costs more than the appliance is worth. If the technician finds this on site, you only pay the €69 diagnosis.

Yes. We repair on site, so the appliance doesn’t have to go down the stairs. In the nineteenth-century terraced houses around the centre, the washing machine is often in the cellar or on the top floor, with a narrow staircase in between. That is exactly where repairing at home makes sense.
What should I prepare before the technician arrives?
Make the appliance accessible and leave room to pull it forward. Take the laundry out of the drum or the dishes out of the racks. Have the model number and the error code ready, so the diagnosis is quicker. Someone aged 18 or over must be present.
