Siemens tumble dryer repair at home
Has your Siemens dryer stopped heating, does it stop after a few minutes, or is the display showing a code or symbol such as F02, E03 or CLn? Below you can read what each code and symbol means and what you can try yourself. If that does not work, a technician comes to your home.
A well-maintained Siemens tumble dryer lasts for years. Many faults have a simple cause: a full lint filter, a dirty condenser or a moisture sensor coated in limescale. You can fix those yourself. The heating, the motor or the electronics need tools and know-how.
We repair Siemens tumble dryers at home throughout Belgium. The diagnosis costs €69. If you decide not to go ahead with the repair, that is all you pay. If you do, the total cost is capped at €179.

Siemens dryer error codes and symbols
A Siemens tumble dryer from the iQ300, iQ500 or iQ700 range reports a fault with a code on the display. Some codes only ask for a little maintenance, others point to a faulty part. Mention the code when you book, so the technician knows where to start.
| Code | What is going on | DIY |
|---|---|---|
| CLn, Clean | Not a fault: the lint filter or the condenser needs cleaning. | Yes |
| Water tank | The tank is full. If the symbol stays on with an empty tank, the condensate pump or the drain hose is blocked. | Partly |
| E01, F01 | Ventilation problem: the dryer cannot get rid of its heat. | Partly |
| E03 | Drying time too long, due to poor airflow or a dirty moisture sensor. | Partly |
| F02 | Faulty heating element. | No |
| F06, F07, F08 | Fault or short circuit in the NTC temperature sensor. | No |
| F09 | Fault in the control of the heating or the sensors. | No |
| F04, F05 | Drive motor fault. | No |
| F11 | The motor is overloaded or the bearings are worn. | No |
| F12 | Short circuit in the motor or its wiring. | No |
| E12 | The drying cycle stopped abruptly. | No |
| F10 | Communication error between the control panel and the main module. | No |
| F17 | Control module fault or a failed software update. | No |
| 000 | General electronics fault. Try a reset first. | Partly |
Where the last column says No, the fault is in the heating, the motor, sensors or electronics. Working on those yourself is dangerous and often makes the damage worse. Book a technician instead.
Siemens error codes explained one by one
What does CLn or Clean mean on my Siemens tumble dryer?
This is not a fault. The dryer is asking you to clean the lint filter or the condenser. You can read how further down, under maintenance. Once you have cleaned them, the message disappears.
Why does the water tank symbol stay on on my Siemens tumble dryer?
The symbol means the condensation water tank is full and needs emptying. If it stays on while the tank is empty, the condensate pump or the drain hose is probably blocked with lint. Have a technician look at it.
What does error code E01 or F01 mean on my Siemens tumble dryer?
A ventilation problem: the dryer cannot get rid of its heat. Check that the air outlet, the lint filter and the condenser are completely free of dust and lint. If the code comes back after cleaning, have the dryer checked.
What does error code E03 mean on my Siemens tumble dryer?
The drying time is too long. That points to poor airflow or a dirty moisture sensor. Clean all filters thoroughly and wipe the two metal strips of the moisture sensor with a little vinegar.
What does error code F02 mean on my Siemens tumble dryer?
The heating element is faulty. The dryer runs, but the laundry does not get dry. A technician is needed.
What does error code F06, F07 or F08 mean on my Siemens tumble dryer?
A fault or short circuit in the NTC temperature sensor. The dryer can no longer measure the heat correctly. Stop using it and call a technician.
What does error code F09 mean on my Siemens tumble dryer?
A fault in the control of the heating element or the sensors. This needs a technician with measuring equipment.
What does error code F04 or F05 mean on my Siemens tumble dryer?
A drive motor fault. The drum usually no longer turns. There is nothing you can do yourself.
What does error code F11 mean on my Siemens tumble dryer?
The motor is overloaded or the bearings are worn. You often hear a heavy or squeaking noise as well. Have the dryer checked before the damage gets worse.
What does error code F12 mean on my Siemens tumble dryer?
A short circuit in the motor or its wiring. Unplug the dryer and call a technician.
What does error code E12 mean on my Siemens tumble dryer?
The drying cycle stopped abruptly. That can be caused by a blocked drain or by a fault in the programme sequence of the main module. Have a technician find the cause.
What does error code F10 mean on my Siemens tumble dryer?
A communication error: the control panel can no longer talk to the main module of the dryer. This is an electronics problem for a technician.
What does error code F17 mean on my Siemens tumble dryer?
A fault in the control module or a software update that failed. Again, a technician is needed.
What does error code 000 mean on my Siemens tumble dryer?
A general electronics fault. Try resetting the dryer by unplugging it for half an hour. If the code comes back, there is a technical fault.
Siemens tumble dryer problems without an error code
Why is my Siemens tumble dryer not heating?
Often the heating element has failed or the condenser is blocked. First check that all filters and the condenser are completely clean. If the dryer stays cold, a technician is needed.
Why does my Siemens tumble dryer stop after a few minutes?
Usually it is the moisture sensor. If it is covered in limescale or detergent residue, the dryer wrongly thinks the laundry is already dry. Wipe the two metal strips behind the lint filter with a damp sponge and a little white vinegar.
Why is the water tank light on in my Siemens tumble dryer when the tank is empty?
The pump that sends the condensation water to the drawer, or the pipe leading to it, is probably blocked with lint. That usually needs a technician.
Why is my Siemens tumble dryer beeping?
Usually it is simply the signal that the programme has finished. If the dryer beeps and stops in the middle of a programme, the water tank is probably full, or there is a problem with the drain or the moisture sensors.
Maintaining your Siemens tumble dryer
How often should I clean the lint filter of my Siemens tumble dryer?
After every load. A blocked filter reduces the airflow. Drying then takes much longer and the appliance can overheat.
How do I clean the condenser of my Siemens tumble dryer?
Rinse the condenser at the bottom of the dryer with lukewarm water at least once a month. This applies to heat pump and condenser dryers. If your model has a self-cleaning condenser (selfCleaning), keeping the lint filter or filters clean is enough.
How do I clean the moisture sensor of my Siemens tumble dryer?
Open the door. Just behind the lint filter you will see two metal strips. Wipe them every few months with a damp, non-abrasive sponge and a little white vinegar, so no limescale builds up.
Where is the best place for my Siemens tumble dryer?
In a well-ventilated room. A dryer needs fresh air to run efficiently. Ideally put it in a room where the temperature stays between 5 and 35 degrees.
What is the difference between a Siemens condenser dryer and a heat pump dryer?
A heat pump dryer reuses the warm air and dries at a much lower temperature. That is kinder to your clothes and saves a good deal on your energy bill. A condenser dryer dries faster with a heating element, but uses much more electricity.
Your Siemens working again, with no surprises

We are not an authorised Siemens service partner and we do not pretend to be. We are an independent repair service. For you that mainly means: no long wait, a fixed price you know in advance, and a technician who opens up Siemens tumble dryers every week.
We repair Siemens condenser and heat pump dryers, from older condenser models to the recent iQ800 heat pump dryers. The faults we see often are heating that no longer warms up, a moisture sensor that stops the dryer too early, a blocked condensate pump and motor problems. We work with original parts or parts of equivalent quality, and the technician tells you the price of a part before fitting it.
Is your dryer still under the manufacturer's warranty? Then we refer you to your retailer or to Siemens. A repair by us could void that warranty, which is not in your interest.
Where do we repair Siemens tumble dryers at home?
Our technicians work in Antwerp, the Brussels-Capital Region, East Flanders, West Flanders, Flemish Brabant, Limburg, Liège, Namur, Hainaut and Walloon Brabant.
Do your technicians have to leave from Vilvoorde every morning?
No. Our technicians live all over Belgium and set out each morning from their own municipality. The parts they need are delivered straight to their homes. That way we are on site quickly, without long journeys and often as soon as the next working day.
Not a Siemens, or a different appliance?
Our tumble dryer repair page covers symptoms and prices for every brand. If another Siemens appliance has broken down, such as your Siemens washing machine or Siemens dishwasher, have a look at our Siemens repair service page. And if you have a second faulty appliance, we repair it during the same visit for an extra 80 euros.
Frequently asked questions about Siemens tumble dryer repair
The diagnosis at your home costs €69. If the technician can repair the dryer, you pay €110 more, €179 in total at most, however long the work takes. Parts are charged separately and the technician tells you the price beforehand. If you decide not to repair after the diagnosis, you only pay €69.
Switch the dryer off, unplug it for 15 minutes and then plug it back in. With error code 000, leave it unplugged for half an hour instead. If the same code comes back after the reset, there is a technical fault that needs checking.
With proper maintenance, 10 to 12 years on average. Cleaning the filters regularly is the main condition for a long life.
Usually, yes. For an appliance under ten years old, a repair of at most €179 plus any parts is almost always cheaper than a new dryer. If the dryer is old and an expensive part has failed, the technician will tell you honestly whether replacing it makes more sense.
Siemens condenser and heat pump dryers, from older condenser models to the iQ300, iQ500, iQ700 and iQ800 ranges.
No, we are an independent repair service. We do not work on behalf of Siemens and we are not an official service partner. In practice that means shorter waiting times and a fixed price you know in advance.
No. If your dryer is still covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, contact your retailer or Siemens. A repair by us could void that warranty.
Often as soon as the next working day. Our technicians live all over Belgium and set out from their own municipality. When you book, you can see straight away which slots are free.
We give a 3-month warranty on every repair we carry out. If the same fault comes back within that period, we return at no extra cost.
