Error codes and faults on a Siemens dishwasher

If the last column says No, it involves parts under mains voltage or electronics. Tackling those yourself is dangerous and often makes the damage worse. Book a technician instead.

What does error code E15 mean on a Siemens dishwasher?
E15 is the most common leak fault. There is water in the drip tray at the bottom of the appliance and the AquaStop has been triggered. That safety device blocks the programme so no water ends up on your floor, which is good news in itself.
Switch the appliance off immediately and unplug it. Then tilt it slightly backwards so the water in the drip tray can flow back. Let it dry for 24 hours before starting again. If the cause was a one-off, such as too much foam or a brief overflow, the code is gone after that.
If E15 returns on the next cycle, a component is damaged and a technician needs to step in. Water is still running somewhere inside, and that does not fix itself. Do not go looking further yourself, because the float and the aquastop valve sit underneath the tub.
What does error code E19 mean on a Siemens dishwasher?
E19 points to a fault in the heat pump or the heating system. The water is not heated properly, which affects both the washing and the drying result. You notice it without the code too: the dishes come out lukewarm and wet, and grease stays behind on plates and glasses. This is not a do-it-yourself repair, because the part sits under the tub and carries mains voltage.
What does error code E22 mean on a Siemens dishwasher?
With E22 the filter is blocked and is restricting water circulation. This is the most rewarding of the four codes, because you usually solve it yourself. Remove the filters, the cylindrical fine filter and the flat filter, and clean them thoroughly under running water with a soft brush. Then check that no food residue is lying on the bottom of the tub. Refit the filters properly and run a short programme.
What does error code E24 mean on a Siemens dishwasher?
E24 is a drainage problem: the water cannot be pumped away. First check that the drain hose is not kinked or squashed behind the appliance. Then clean the drain filter at the bottom of the tub. If the dishwasher is connected to the sink trap, check that too, because grease and food residue block it easily. If the problem persists, the drain pump is probably faulty and a technician replaces it.

Why are my dishes no longer coming out clean?
Start with the spray arms. Turn them by hand and check that they move freely. If the holes are clogged with limescale or food residue, poke them open with a toothpick. Then check the filters at the bottom of the tub. An overloaded top basket that blocks the upper spray arm is another classic.
Why is water left standing in my Siemens dishwasher?
Water left in the tub after the programme points to the drainage. Clean the drain filter, check that the drain hose is not kinked and inspect the sink trap if the appliance is connected to it. If the water still will not go, the drain pump is next in line.
Why does my Siemens dishwasher no longer dry the dishes?
On appliances with a heat exchanger, some moisture left on plastic is normal. If everything stays soaking wet, check the rinse aid, because that is what makes the water run off the dishes. First test the socket with another appliance. Is the door really fully closed, until you hear a click? Is the child lock on? And is the water tap open? In those four cases nothing is broken.

If you only ever run short, cold programmes, grease builds up in the filters, the spray arms and the drain circuit. Clean the filters, run an empty programme at the highest temperature with a machine cleaner and leave the door ajar between cycles.
How do you reset a Siemens dishwasher?
A reset does not fix a mechanical fault, but it does clear an error code that stayed on screen after a one-off glitch. So it is always the first step before you call a technician.
Hold the start button down for 3 to 5 seconds. That cancels the running programme and clears the error code. If that does not work, unplug the appliance for 2 minutes and then plug it back in.
If the code comes straight back, there is a physical fault and resetting further is pointless. If the code stays away, it was a one-off glitch. Do note which code was showing, because if it returns within a few weeks that is valuable information for the technician.
