Microwave repair at home
If your microwave no longer heats or won’t start, a technician comes to repair it at your home.
Repaired at home
Microwave repair in your own kitchen
Has the turntable stopped turning, or is it making a strange noise? Below you can read what is usually wrong, what you can safely check yourself and when a repair is worth it.
We repair microwaves at home, mainly built-in models and combination microwaves fitted in a kitchen cabinet. That is where a repair pays off most. For a cheap freestanding microwave, a new one is sometimes better value, and we will tell you so honestly.
The diagnosis costs €69. If you decide not to go ahead with the repair, that is all you pay. If you choose the repair, the total is at most €179, parts extra.

Prices
How much does a home repair cost?
One fixed price for every appliance and every brand. No hourly rate, no surprises afterwards.
A technician finds the cause of the fault at your home. If you then decide not to go ahead with the repair, you only pay for the diagnosis.
If the technician can repair it, you pay €110. No time limit: even if it takes long or a second visit is needed.
Spare parts are not included. The technician tells you in advance if a part is needed and what it costs.
Chrono surcharge for a visit in the evening, at the weekend or just a few hours after your request.
Second appliance during the same visit? The technician can check and repair it too for €80.
Maintenance as well? The technician can also clean and check your appliance thoroughly, for €50 per appliance on top of the diagnosis and repair.
Prefer remote help first? A video repair costs €49. See all our prices →
Common microwave problems
Why is my microwave not heating?
The light is on, the turntable turns and the fan blows, but the food stays cold? Then the cause is almost always in the high-voltage section: the magnetron (the part that generates the microwaves), the high-voltage diode, the high-voltage capacitor or the transformer. This is not a job to do yourself. These parts carry a very high voltage, and the capacitor can hold its charge even after the plug has been pulled.
Why won’t my microwave start when I close the door?
A microwave only starts when it is certain the door is closed. It has several door switches for that. If one of them fails, or the door no longer closes properly because of a worn latch or hinge, the oven stays off. A faulty door switch can also blow the internal fuse, after which the appliance does nothing at all.
Why has the turntable in my microwave stopped turning?
First check that the glass plate is sitting properly on the coupler in the middle and that the roller ring underneath is clean and in place. If the coupler itself no longer turns, the small motor under the floor has usually failed. Combination microwaves without a turntable don’t have this problem.
Why is my microwave sparking?
Stop it straight away. Sparks often come from metal in the oven: a spoon, aluminium foil or a plate with a gold or silver rim. If there is no metal inside, the cover plate on the inside wall (the waveguide cover, usually made of mica) is often dirty or damaged, or the enamel inside is damaged. Don’t use the oven again until it has been checked.
Why are the buttons on my microwave not responding?
If the control panel doesn’t respond, or only now and then, the membrane keypad or the electronic module has often failed. Try a reset first (see below).
What can you safely check yourself?
Never open the casing of a microwave yourself. There is a very high voltage inside, and the high-voltage capacitor can still hold a dangerous charge after the plug has been pulled. These checks are safe:
How do I reset my microwave?
Unplug it or switch off its fuse in the fuse box for a few minutes, then switch it back on. The electronics then restart. If the appliance does nothing at all, check that the socket works by plugging in another appliance.
Does the door of my microwave close properly?
Check that there are no food remains on the door edge or seal that stop it from closing. If the door visibly no longer closes properly, stop using the oven and have it checked.
How do I keep my microwave clean?
Clean the inside and the cover plate on the inside wall regularly with a damp cloth and mild soapy water. Baked-on grease and food remains on that plate can cause sparking. Don’t use scouring pads or aggressive cleaners.
Repair or replace?
A built-in or combination microwave is expensive to replace, and a new one also has to fit the same cabinet opening. In that case a repair is usually worthwhile.
For a cheap freestanding microwave it’s different. Diagnosis, repair and parts together sometimes cost more than a new appliance. If you still want a technician to come, he will tell you honestly after the diagnosis whether a repair makes sense.
We are an independent repair service, not an official service partner of any brand. You know the price in advance and you never pay more than the maximum. Is your microwave still under the manufacturer’s warranty? Then we refer you to the manufacturer or the shop. A repair by us could void that warranty.
Where do we repair microwaves at home?
Our technicians work in Antwerp, the Brussels-Capital Region, East Flanders, West Flanders, Flemish Brabant, Limburg, Liège, Namur, Hainaut and Walloon Brabant.
Do your technicians have to set off from Vilvoorde every morning?
No. Our technicians live all over Belgium and set off every morning from their own municipality. The parts they need are delivered straight to their homes. That way we get to you quickly, without long drives, and often as soon as the next working day.
Other appliances
Is another appliance broken too? During the same visit we repair a second appliance for an extra 80 euros.
