Dishwasher faults: what you can check yourself
Why won’t my dishwasher drain?
If there is water at the bottom after the programme, first check the filter at the bottom of the tub: unscrew it and rinse it. Also check that the drain hose behind the appliance isn’t kinked. If the water stays with a clean filter, the drain pump is usually blocked or faulty.
Why isn’t my dishwasher heating?
If the dishes are cold and wet at the end, the heating element, the temperature sensor or the heated circulation pump is usually faulty. The causes are explained on dishwasher not heating.
Why is my dishwasher leaking?
Check that the door seal is intact and clean, and that you haven’t used ordinary washing-up liquid: it foams and runs out under the door. If the water comes from under the appliance, a hose, the pump or the tub seal may be leaking. Turn off the tap and don’t use the appliance until it has been checked.
Why aren’t my dishes coming out clean?
Clean the filter and check that the holes in the spray arms aren’t blocked. Top up the dishwasher salt and rinse aid. If residue stays on the dishes, a spray arm no longer turns or the circulation pump isn’t working properly.
My dishwasher shows an error code: what now?

What should I prepare for the visit?
Empty the racks and make sure the technician can reach the appliance, the tap and the socket. If there is still water in the tub, leave it: it helps with the diagnosis.

Turn off the dishwasher tap and unplug it. Mop up the water and put a towel in front of the appliance. Don’t start another programme.
