AEG dishwashers use i-codes. On an appliance without a display, the machine beeps or flashes as many times as the first digit of the code: i10 once, i20 twice, i30 three times. So count the beeps, because that is often the only clue you get.
We are an independent AEG repair service and we repair AEG dishwashers at home, anywhere in Belgium. The diagnosis costs €69. If you decide not to have the repair done, that is all you pay. If you go ahead, the total never exceeds €179.
How much does repairing an AEG dishwasher cost?
The same fixed price as for any other brand. No hourly rate and no surprises.
A technician establishes the cause at your home and reads the i-code from the memory of the appliance. If you then decide against the repair, this €69 is all you pay.
If the technician can repair it, you pay €110. No time limit, and even a second visit is included.
You never pay more than €179 for the repair itself. Parts are charged separately and the technician tells you that price in advance.
Need it urgently? With Chrono you choose the next available morning or afternoon, or a visit in the evening or at the weekend. That costs €50 extra, so €229 maximum.

Error codes and problems on an AEG dishwasher
The i-codes we come across most, with what is going on for each one and whether you can do something about it yourself. If your appliance has no display, count how many times it beeps or flashes. Pass the code on when you book and the technician will bring the right part.

What does error code i10 mean on an AEG dishwasher?
i10 is a water inlet problem. Some appliances show i11, AL5, C1 or F1 instead. No water runs into the machine, the appliance does not start or does not finish its programme. If your dishwasher has no display, it beeps or flashes once.
First open the tap fully and check that enough water comes out. If another appliance is drawing water at the same moment, the pressure drops. AEG gives a simple test for this: you should be able to fill a 10 litre bucket in 1 minute, or 5 litres in 30 seconds. If you cannot, the water pressure is too low and the dishwasher is not at fault.
Then check the inlet hose for kinks and clean the small filter in the connector at the tap. Unplug the appliance and close the tap first. If the code stays, the fault is in the inlet valve or the aquastop valve and a technician comes out.
What does error code i20 mean on an AEG dishwasher?
i20 is a drainage problem: the dishwasher does not pump the water away and water stays in the tub. The appliance shows i20, C2, F2 or AL6 and beeps or flashes twice.
First clean the filter at the bottom of the tub and click it back properly, the red arrow tips have to meet. Check that the drain hose is not kinked or folded over. AEG requires that hose to be fitted between 40 and 85 cm high. Also check the sink trap. If the appliance has just been installed, check that the cap on the trap connection has been removed.
If i20 stays after all those checks, the drain pump is faulty and a technician replaces it.
What does error code i30 mean on an AEG dishwasher?
i30 signals a leak, or water in the base tray of the appliance. The Aqua-Control safety device has been triggered, the pump runs continuously and the machine stops. The display shows i30 or C3, and without a display the appliance beeps or flashes three times.
First check the tap and the connection of the inlet hose. Then check that the filters are clean and clicked in properly. A large item that blocks the spray arm sends the water in the same direction every time, which can push it past the door seal. Clean the spray arms and check that the holes are open.
Then close the tap, unplug the appliance and leave it standing for 24 hours so the water can drain out of the base tray. If i30 comes back after that, there is a real leak that needs a professional repair.
What does error code i40 or i44 mean on an AEG dishwasher?
i40, i43 and i44 point to a fault in the pressure sensor and the water level control. The appliance does not start and beeps or flashes four times.
First check that the filters are clean, because dirty filters slow the water flow. Then do one reset: unplug, wait 1 minute, plug back in, select a programme and start it. If you have pulled the dishwasher out of its housing, check that the hoses are not kinked or squashed and that the tap is fully open.
If the programme then runs normally, it was a one-off glitch. If the code stays, the fault is in the pressure sensor or in the pump assembly and a technician is needed.
What does error code i60 mean on an AEG dishwasher?
i60 is a heating problem. The appliance shows i60, i61, i69 or i6C, does not heat the water and no longer dries the dishes. You notice it without the code too: the dishes come out lukewarm and wet, and grease stays behind on plates and glasses. Without a display, the appliance beeps or flashes six times.
What you can do yourself is limited to one reset: unplug, wait 1 minute, switch on again and start a programme. If the code stays, a technician is needed. AEG advises against using the appliance while the problem is unresolved, and we follow that advice.

Why are my dishes no longer coming out clean from the AEG dishwasher?
Start with the spray arms. Turn them by hand and check that they move freely. If the holes are clogged with limescale or food residue, poke them open with a toothpick. Then check the filter at the bottom of the tub and click it back correctly. An overloaded top basket that blocks the upper spray arm is another classic.
Why is there white residue or limescale on my dishes?
White marks on plates and glasses usually point to the water softener. Check that the salt reservoir is filled and that the hardness setting of the appliance matches the water in your municipality. Check the rinse aid as well. If the problem stays, the salt sensor or the softener is faulty.
Why is water left standing in my AEG dishwasher?
Water left in the tub after the programme points to the drainage, often together with code i20. Clean the filter, check that the drain hose is not kinked and inspect the sink trap if the appliance is connected to it. If the water still will not go, the drain pump is next in line.
Why does my AEG dishwasher smell?
If you only ever run short, cold programmes, grease builds up in the filters, the spray arms and the drain circuit. Clean the filters, run an empty programme at the highest temperature with a machine cleaner and leave the door ajar between cycles. Many AEG appliances have a separate Machine Care programme for this.
Why does the door of my AEG dishwasher no longer close properly?
First check that the door seal is not hardened or cracked, and that no food residue is caught in the catch. A built-in appliance that is not level, or whose furniture panel is too heavy, also closes badly. If the door no longer latches, the door lock is usually worn. A technician replaces it in a single visit.
How do you reset an AEG dishwasher?
A reset does not fix a mechanical fault, but it does clear an i-code that stayed on screen after a one-off glitch. So it is always the first step before you call a technician.
Unplug the dishwasher, wait 1 minute and then plug it back in. If the socket is out of reach behind the appliance, you can also cut the power with the fuse in the consumer unit. Then switch the dishwasher on, select a suitable programme and start it.
If the programme runs normally, it was a one-off glitch. If the code comes straight back, there is a physical fault and resetting further is pointless. Do note which code was showing and how many times the appliance beeped, because that is valuable information for the technician.

On AEG appliances without a display, the error code is passed on with beeps or flashing lights. The number matches the first digit of the i-code: once for i10, twice for i20, three times for i30, four times for i40 and six times for i60. Count them and pass the number on when you book.
