Miele dishwasher F14: no water pressure in the wash circuit
Does your Miele dishwasher fill with water and then stop with F14? Here is what is going on and what you can do yourself.
Error code F14
What does F14 mean on a Miele dishwasher?
With F14 your dishwasher measures no water pressure in the wash circuit after filling. While the circulation pump runs, the appliance reads a pressure switch to check the water is being pumped round. If that pressure is missing, F14 follows.
Online you often read that F14 means a blocked circulation pump. That is possible, but Miele’s service documentation lists eight causes, and a blocked pump is only one of them. You can solve one cause yourself; the others are work for a technician. The diagnosis costs €69, the repair a maximum of €179 in total, parts extra.

How much does Miele dishwasher repair cost?
Whether your Miele dishwasher won't drain, doesn't dry or shows an error code: you pay the same fixed price, just like for any other brand.
A technician finds out at your home why your Miele dishwasher isn't working properly. If you don't go ahead with the repair, you only pay for the diagnosis.
If the technician can repair your Miele dishwasher, you pay €110. No time limit: even if it takes long or a second visit is needed.
Spare parts are not included. The technician tells you in advance if a part is needed and what it costs.
Chrono surcharge for a visit in the evening, at the weekend or just a few hours after your request.
Second appliance during the same visit? The technician can check and repair it too for €80.
Maintenance as well? The technician can also clean and check your appliance thoroughly, for €50 per appliance on top of the diagnosis and repair.
Prefer remote help first? A video repair costs €49. See all our prices →
What can you check yourself with F14?
Is the drain of my dishwasher properly vented?
This is the first cause on Miele’s list, and the only one you can deal with yourself. The problem arises when the drain connection in your kitchen is lower than the rails of the lower basket, for example with a dishwasher built in at a raised height. Air can then stay trapped in the circuit. How to vent the drain is explained in your appliance’s manual.
Does switching the dishwasher off and on help?
It does no harm: switch the appliance off, wait a moment and start a new programme. Clean the filters in the base in the meantime. If F14 comes back, a part is faulty.
The other causes of F14
According to Miele itself, F14 can also have these causes. All of them are work for a technician:
- The pressure switch on the circulation pump is faulty.
- The circulation pump is not turning or is blocked by a foreign object.
- Dirt in the pressure switch.
- The flow sensor (water meter) is faulty.
- The circulation pump itself is faulty.
- The switch contacts do not open after the filling phase.
- A short circuit on the measuring contacts.
The technician measures which of these causes it is. These are live parts in the water circuit: we advise against working on them yourself.
Does F14 look like another error code?
| Code | What is going on | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| F14 | No water pressure in the circuit after filling. | Vent the drain, otherwise a technician. |
| F69, F78 | The circulation pump is not turning, is stuck or faulty. | Clean the filters and reset, otherwise a technician. |
| F11 | The water is not being pumped away. | Clean the drain pump, see Miele dishwasher F11. |
| F12, F13, F15, F173 | Too little water is coming in. | Check the tap, hose and filter. |

Frequently asked questions about F14 on a Miele dishwasher
No. A blocked circulation pump is one of the eight causes Miele lists. Just as often it is the pressure switch, the flow sensor or a drain that is not vented.
That tip goes round online, but it is not in Miele’s service documentation. We advise against it: water up to 75 °C causes burns and does not solve most causes of F14.
As long as the cause is there, every programme stops again. There is no danger, but your dishes are not washed. Have the appliance checked.
Usually, yes. Miele dishwashers last a long time and parts stay available for years. A repair costs a maximum of €179 plus the part; a new Miele dishwasher easily costs 900 euros or more.
The diagnosis at home costs €69. If the technician can repair it, you pay a maximum of €179 in total, however long it takes. Parts are extra and you hear the price beforehand. If you decide not to repair, you only pay the €69.
Yes, 3 months on the repair. If the same fault comes back within that period, we come back at no extra cost.
No. We are an independent repair service, not an official Miele service partner. Our technicians do repair Miele appliances every week, at a fixed price you know in advance. If your appliance is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, contact Miele directly.
