Error code F24

What does F24 mean on a Miele dishwasher?

F24 means a fault in the heating relay. Your Miele checks the contacts of that relay while the circulation pump is stopped. If it measures mains voltage where there should be none, it stores the error, stops the programme, starts the drain pump and beeps four times.

After F11, F24 is the most searched Miele dishwasher code. To be honest: there is nothing you can do about it yourself. The fix needs measurements on live parts and sometimes a new control board. A technician makes the diagnosis for €69, the repair costs a maximum of €179 in total, parts extra.

What causes F24 on a Miele dishwasher?

Miele’s service documentation lists three causes:

  • Dirt or moisture on the plug of the heating wiring harness. This creates unwanted conduction.
  • A short circuit in the pressure switch.
  • A faulty control board, the electronics that control the heating. In rare cases the board and relay are faulty together and both have to be replaced.

The technician measures the resistance on the wiring harness and the pressure switch and then knows which part needs replacing.

Why can you not fix F24 yourself?

With F11 you can clean the drain pump yourself. With F24 there is no self-help step at all: everything happens in the electronics and on live parts, in an appliance full of water. A reset sometimes clears the message for a while, but the cause remains. Do not keep restarting: a faulty relay can damage the heating element.

Can I still use my Miele dishwasher with F24?

No. The programme stops every time, and the appliance is reporting a problem in the power supply to the heating. Better to unplug it until the technician arrives.

Frequently asked questions about F24 on a Miele dishwasher

There is no immediate danger; the appliance protects itself by stopping the programme. But it concerns the power supply to the heating. Do not keep restarting and have it checked.

The diagnosis and measurements are done on the first visit. If the control board needs replacing and is not in stock, we plan a second visit. That stays within the fixed price of up to €179, parts extra.

Usually, yes. A new Miele dishwasher easily costs 900 euros or more, delivered and built in. Replacing a board or relay costs a fraction of that, and a good appliance does not end up on the scrap heap.

Note down what you see, including flashing lights, and the model number on the edge of the door. Give it when you book. The technician then knows in advance which part may be needed.

The diagnosis at home costs €69. If the technician can repair it, you pay a maximum of €179 in total, however long it takes. Parts are extra and you hear the price beforehand. If you decide not to repair, you only pay the €69.

Yes, 3 months on the repair. If the same fault comes back within that period, we come back at no extra cost.

No. We are an independent repair service, not an official Miele service partner. Our technicians do repair Miele appliances every week, at a fixed price you know in advance. If your appliance is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, contact Miele directly.
